It appears that yet another set of buses has received full wraps this time with the Adventure “BLUE” Aquarium full wrapped. As it stands now two of the buses in the fleet has received this fully wrapped, these buses are the 5588 from the victory depot and 5430 from Callowhill.

As mention on the Frankford Terminal site the 8000 series buses with the Cummins ISL 280/ZF transmission are set to arrive between 10-14 weeks. Which is around the end of June Early July. Once the ZF flyers come into service there has already been rumors going for a massive bus removement taken place. Here’s my theories on why SEPTA may have more NABIs position at southern than there is now.

SEPTA wants to have an all ULSD depot. This type of diesel keeps emissions downs in SEPTA buses. You don’t need any devices to help make the engines run on this type of fuel. You just filling it up and it’s ready to go it’s like going to a gas station and filling it up with 93 octane fuel rather than 89 percent octane the engine with run better and smoother. However in this case the engine may just generate less emissions.


As for the rest of my theory SEPTA wants to keep all of the #2 diesel buses separated from ULSD diesel buses. After this pending order of 100 buses, which will run on this fuel, my guess is that it would be cheaper to keep all of their buses that run on one type of fuel at one depot.


Now if you read that information from this post (link listed below this post) carefully it would say the only buses that will be at southern would be the hybrids, the 100 Cummins Flyers, and a Group of NABIs running of this fuel. There has already been a few rumors floating around that frontier and other depots will loose some of their NABIs if not of them in replace of new flyers. I don’t know how true that rumor is however taking it carefully and the official word from SEPTA. IT looks like we may have a major bus replacement on our hands. I guess we shall see by the summer.

Plus on top of that since SEPTA is trying to save money it would cost nothing or near nothing to train the maintence at southern on these buses since they will have the ISL engine and the existing hybrids has this engine. And the bus will have a ZF ECOMAT II transmission which is found in the 57xx fleet.

Accorded to some sources that many if not all of the artics assigning to Midvale as received a VOH. Which the latest out of shops 7234 from Midvale. To add to that 7155, 7201, and 7131 are the latest VOH out of the Shops. As you can tell just about a good portion of the artics around 80-85% of them had received a VOH’s. The VOH of the Eldorado should begin shortly it has been planed in the Proposals that in SEPTA’s Fiscal year 2006 which starts on July 1, 2005- June 30th, 2006 has allocated funds to overhaul the 2001 Eldorado and the 2001 New Flyers. There is already a pilot of the Eldorado overhaul on the streets this bus is 4526 and it is assigned to frontier. There is also one VOH pilot #5414 that is still in the process in getting an overhaul it is expected on the streets sometime shortly We will keep you inform.

After Months without any new information SEPTA has announced perhaps the biggest news involving the Market st project by far! In today’s metro news paper SEPTA announced that 56 st station will be closed on Tuesday May 31st 2005 for a period of 6 months. This closure will allow for the Demolishing and Complete Reconstruction of the Station which will include escalators and elevators. During this time, Route G buses will be detoured to 52nd Street between Arch and Walnut Streets so that riders can transfer to/from the El at 52nd Street Station. Four weekend shutdowns are planned for June as well as two nine-day shutdowns slated for July 15-24 and August 12-21. Shuttle buses will provide alternate service between 69th Street Terminal and 52nd Street Station during all El shutdowns. Westbound riders traveling beyond 52nd Street Station will need to get off the El at 40th Street Station to transfer to shuttle buses. This is obviously great news Following the news that the contactor responsible for the first phase of the project which was the reconstruction of the portion between Millbourne and 63rd st was fired for being behind some 700+ days!

Hello you guys it’s been a while since I’ve been on my home machine to provide what is going on what the SEPTA fleet news apparently my internet connection at home was disable due to some issues however it has now been restored and now I can provide some fleet news. Some of this news was not release on this date listed above I have provided a date next to it when I first recorded this news.

To add to the wrap posting it appears that a great deal of buses thought out west Philly and it’s surrounding suburban divisions has received fully wraps and side ads wraps. There are way to many buses to count with the current affair wrap however the list of buses that were recorded are listed below. The buses are 5422, 5416 with the WMRR “Black” 103.9 wrap. #5435 with the Franklin plaza wrap, 5427 with the BMW?/Mini wrap, 5411 and 5592 with the #5411 (Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus) wrap. With the older buses with wraps #5621 with the SEPTA.org wrap, #5628 with the KYW Free bus promotion wrap, with 5140 and 5151 with the THP properties wrap which 3488 and 3487 had prior to it, and #5902 from frontier having a current affair side wrap from the frontier division. (4-16) Also add Callowhill’s #5433,5455 Frankford’s #5777, Southern 5793, 5807 are the list of buses with the “A current affair Fox29” Side wrap. It’s possible that there could be a great deal more of buses with this side-wrap considering that every time when I check out a bus it appears to be sporting this wrap plus one red arrow bus :). It appears that the buses which received this wrap so far is nothing but new flyers.

It has been 20 years since the R1 Airport line was running. And SEPTA is celebrating it by making a cake and hand it out to their commuters at the airport also as part of a promotional of the R1 Line as well. (4-27)

Hello you guys long time no see This is apparently consider “OLD
NEWS” to some new news to others however it’s
still is consider to be news. SEPTA was testing
a NYC Orion 7 Hybrid on southern based routes,
which SEPTA renumber this bus to #3999. It’s
now back at MTA Wednesday as of the 12th of
April. A modified version of the Cummins ISB-250
engine powers the hybrid with a BEV Unit. Something
similar to the units used in our hybrids however

This could give the idea that SEPTA is testing
hybrids for the next order of buses due in 2008
which is not sure who will make them or what
kind of buses they will rather it’s straight
diesel or it’s a hybrid diesel bus running on
