PCCIIs being end of life?

There are rumors going around that the last day for the PCCII which would operate in Service is on January 25th 2020. This is due to variety of reasons but one of the main two reasons I-95 construction along Girard Avenue and also many of the PCC2s has mechanical issues. We will update as soon as more information becomes available but in the meantime get your last rides in. The PCCII trolleys operate on SEPTA’s route 15.

Fourth batch of the Xcelisor order is arriving

Fourth batch of the Xcelisor order is now arriving on the property. 3295 has arrived at Germantown and slated to head to Midvale. Get your last rides in on the 2003 New Flyers. Southern, and Callowhill are likely to receive these as well as these will replace the 2003 and some of the 2004 New Flyers.

SEPTA Silverliner II and III on the move from Nicetown to Frazer

On Tuesday October 1st 2019 , an extra train which is made up of an AECS-64 (Locomotive), Push Push car and the last remaining Silverliner II and III cars on the property were moved to Frazer yard. The rational is that they needed space at Wayne Electric yard. These two cars (Silverliner II and III) hasn’t turn an wheel since these were retired back in 2012. It was nice seeing these in action again even if it was only an simple move to another yard.

Upcoming changes to the Push Pull asssignments

Starting on September 30th 2019, there will be some changes being made to the Push Pull assignments and page. Given to the construction on I-95, two push pull sets will have their consist length by two cars to make an Eight (8) car consist to operate on the Trenton line. In addition, there will be an leased set of MARC cars operating on the West Trenton Line.

Xcelisor News

The third installment of the 2017-2021 order is now complete. In an unusual twist 3290-3294 has an different seating arrangement. The seating is the same as that on the Proterras. Also there is an Glass divider between the Priority seating area and the normal area.

DART decides to accept SEPTA Key Cards, starting September 1st

As SEPTA phases out its monthly Zone 3 and Anywhere Trailpasses, replacing them with digital versions on the SEPTA Key, DART First State has decided to accept valid Key Cards as fare.  This is according to a notice posted on Facebook. It appears that DART Drivers will visualy inspect the Key Cards as they do with the Trailpasses today.

Whoa we got some goodies to update on

It’s been a while since we posted an news article. There are several things which we wish to update you on:

 SEPTA is now having an all-day push pull train in service. That’s right; there is now an all-day push pull

Started on March 18 th, the set will be out from roughly 7:30am to 1:40am covering several lines.

All trips are local except for 4571 which is the AKA the Second Great Valley Flyer which operates during the 6PM hour from 30th street station to Thorndale

The train will be operating the following trips:
9506 Malvern to Center City
9331 Center City to Elwyn
3234 Elwyn to Norristown
2333 Norristown to Elwyn
3420 Elwyn to Warminster
4571 Warminster to Thorndale
592 Thorndale to Doylestown
591 Doylestown to Malvern

 

Proterra electric buses are finally seeing revenue service : That’s right, after two years since being deliveried, SEPTA is finally slowly deploying their fleet of Proterra electric buses. SEPTA has purchased 25 all-electric buses to operate on routes 29 and 79 in South Philadelphia. Thus far, it seems that the Proterras are being deployed on weekends only on the route 79

SEPTA AEM7/ALP44 Farewell trip

For decades, SEPTA has had a long tradition of celebrating the arrival and departure of its rail fleet. SEPTA will continue this tradition on Saturday, December 1, 2018 with a “Farewell to the AEM-7 Locomotives” excursion trip.
