So they lived on after all (part II)

About a week or so since it was announced on ABC’s WPVI news. The SEPTA website has posted its news article on the 20 bus donation to New Orleans. After reading this article it appears that the New Orleans bus fleet during the major hurricane in late august has completely wiped out 75% of its fleet. the 20 buses as listed above were also sent down to New Orleans with household supplies as well.

56th street station Reopening

As found on many southern buses; the 56th street station is scheduled to reopen on Monday February 21st 2006. After 8 long months of rebuilding the station it is finally ready to operate once again.

Trackless trolley Manufacturer Announced

The SEPTA board will soon acknowledge the contracts of the trackless trolley manufacture to New Flyer industrials. The contract specifies that the first unit will be delivered on March 30, 2007. The contract also specifies that thirty-eight (38) units with an option for twenty-three (23) are set to be deliver starting in spring 2008 to replace the remaining units of the Neoplan 40 foots which has been running in this city by that time for 19 long years. It’s vague as to rather or not septa will restore operating trackless-trolleys again out of the southern depot.

So they lived on after all

Apparently the 20 neoplans that were supposed to be sent to New Orleans are currently on their way to New Orleans after all. Accorded to the news reports 10 of these units already left already. The rumor stating that New Orleans RTA rejecting them was just a rumor. The 20 neoplans that were to new Orleans are, 3271, 3272, 3313, 3315, 3324, 3326, 3333, 3334, 3336, 3339, 3341, 3356, 3367, 3377, 3406, 3408, 3409, 3413, 3449, and 3470.

New Flyer Delivery Update

The highest New Flyer confirmed to be delivered so far is 8113. The New Flyers yet to be delivered are 8109, 8112, and 8114-8119. As soon as all of 8000-8119 are in service we will know exactly what buses Southern will keep and where the rest of its September, 2005 fleet will end up.

New Flyer Overhaul Update

Several New Flyers have recently completed overhaul. With this said, 4539 is the only Eldorado still to complete VOH. Unconfirmed overhauls are 4530, 4562, and 4567. Please let us know if these buses are overhauled. To see which New Flyers are in for overhaul, click here.

New Schedules Effective This Weekend

New schedules for all transit routes go into affect on Sunday, Monday, and Saturday the 18th (Route 91 only). Schedules are available at http://www.septa.org and will soon be available at SEPTA customer service offices, terminals, and on vehicles. A list of changes will be available soon on this website.

New Flyer Delivery Update

The highest new flyer spotted on SEPTA property and is currently operating is #8104 which was reported by Darryl Bulls. That means that the order of the 2005 New Flyers only has roughly about 20 units to left be delivered.
